(CANADA) A United Christmas Worship Service to Celebrate Jesus, the Source of True Joy

By Paulus Cha

We held the GTA United Christmas worship on December 14 at OISE, the University of Toronto. For two months, our leaders met frequently, both in person and online, to prepare for this united worship service. In addition, coworkers gathered on three Sundays after worship services to pray for God’s help and blessing for this celebration.

God accepted our prayers and devotion as our offering and richly blessed the worship service through His Holy Spirit. A total of 187 people joined together to celebrate the birth of our Savior. Through two skits (TMU; St. George & Toronto), dances (Humber; Scarborough), music (St. George), and choir (all together), we worshiped Jesus, who came into the world as a baby in a manger. Missionary Paul Chang (Hamilton) blessed the worship service with a benediction.

Through the gracious message delivered by Missionary Isaac Kim, we learned the true meaning of Christmas: why Jesus had to come into the world in such humility and why His coming is good news of great joy for all people. As we all know, in this world many bad things, such as war, terror, injustice, fighting, and quarreling, happen on a daily basis. There is no true peace. Invaded by godless “isms” of all kinds—humanism, hedonism, materialism—people struggle hard to find true joy. They may find temporary pleasure or enjoyment, but not true joy, because true joy comes from heaven. The joy found in worldly things is neither universal nor lasting, but greatly limited. But Jesus, who came into the world as a baby in a manger, is truly good news for all people because He is Christ the Lord. Through His death on the cross and His resurrection, Jesus destroyed the two fundamental problems of mankind: sin and death.

I only thank and praise Jesus, our humble Shepherd King and Messiah. Even though we are weak and very limited in strength and wisdom, God helped us and blessed us to offer our prayers and to serve the united Christmas worship service. We continue to pray for spiritual revival in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) and in Canada, depending only on God’s hope to save all people.

Thank you very much for your prayers for the work of God. May the grace of Immanuel Jesus be with you, your family, and your ministry in this Christmas season.

Merry Christmas!
