"The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing." Psalm 23:1
On Friday, November 28, we celebrated the life and legacy of Missionary Maria Bong Ju Hong, who went to be with her Lord on Sunday, November 23, at the age of 96. Through reflecting on her favorite psalm, Psalm 23, we remembered how the Lord was with her through the hills and valleys of her life, showing himself as her good shepherd, who guided her, protected and provided for her, particularly in terms of her family. She was an engaged and sacrificial mother of five, grandmother of thirteen and great-grandmother of 18, as well as a spiritual prayer mother for generations of members at Toledo UBF Church. To mourn and celebrate her life, family members gathered from as far as Lehigh, Albany, New York, California, Texas, and Korea, sharing experiences at her funeral, including a eulogy by her son Dr. Paul Hong and closing remarks by her son Elder Hong Chong Ho. Her grandchildren performed a beautiful orchestra piece. Guests from Canada and Chicago also attended.
