Our annual fall retreat was held October 24-26 in Paris, Ontario with 32 attendees, including two members of Scarborough UBF, one from Humber UBF and one from York UBF. The theme of the retreat was “Secrets of the Kingdom” based on Matthew 13:11, “He replied, “Because the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them.'"

Five young disciples gave messages on five parables of Jesus: the workers in the vineyard, the tenants, the wedding banquet, the ten virgins and the bags of gold. In spite of busy schedules with midterm exams and assignments, each person thoughtfully prepared a message that reveals the gospel of the kingdom. Two students shared their life testimonies, showing God’s compassion and faithfulness to lead them to Jesus and a new life in His grace. We had two special presentations on the book, “Boundaries,” and the book, “Is God Calling Me?” We need wisdom and discernment to know what we are responsible for so that we do not try to be God, but trust in God. We all have a universal, general and specific calling from God to serve His purpose. We pray that all of us, especially our graduating students may heed God’s call to service. We thank God for our praise and worship team who co-worked very well to set an atmosphere of joy and worship, and we are thankful for our senior members who mentored the five messengers and prayed for them. We thank God for showing us how He is working in young people’s lives, and we pray for this new generation of disciples to love God and give their lives for His kingdom.
